About us
We are a family of three behind this young, FIFe registered Norwegian Forest Cat cattery. Our home can be found at the Southern border of Hungary, where we live with our Wegies, housecats, bearded collies, minipig, turtles and rabbit. Our house (our bed included) is free for our dogs and cats, we have no crates and kennels. We are coming from the world of dog shows and breeding, we have been owned by bearded collies for more than 15 years. You are welcome to visit the webpage of our beardies >>
Around 2008 we fell in love with the beauty of the Norwegian Forest Cats. We have been watching closer the world of NFO catteries for a few years before our first Wegie joined our family. We believe we've found the eternal love in NFOs as a breed (out of all the cat breeds), just like with beardies. They will be part of our lives forever.
We are members of FIFe (member of World Cat Congress) and Felis Hungarica (Hungarian member of FIFe)

About the Norwegian Forest Cats
"..If ever there was a cat built to match its environment, it is the Norwegian Forest Cat. It has developed over many years of natural selection into a breed able to survive the long harsh winters of Norway. It is a sturdy cat with a double coat which has protective, water-resistant guard hairs over a downy, warm undercoat. The coats of the free-roaming cats do not mat because the loose hair resulting from their annual molt is removed by rubbing against such things as tree trunks and brambles..."

About health and the wegie/nfo/nfc
Our cats are coming from tested lines and we also test (and will test) them regularly: once in a lifetime for PKD & PK def. and according to Pawped's recommendation for HCM & CIN: "..The first HCM test should be done at the age of 1 and before the cat is used in a breeding programme. Further tests are recommended yearly until the cat is over 3 years of age. After that testing is recommended at the age of 5."
GSD-IV (Glycogen Storage Disease IV) - note: GSD4 is a disorder inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, so two GSD IV N/N (negative, healthy) cats will have only N/N (negative) kittens.
Pyruvate Kinase (PK) Deficiency - note: PK def. is inherited as an autosomal recessive condition, so two PK def. N/N (negative, healthy) cats will have only N/N (negative) kittens.
PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) - note: PKD is an inherited kidney disease, cysts are present from birth. Most easily diagnosed by ultrasound, which can identify the disease very early in its course. Currently there is NO approved DNA test for PKD in Norwegian Forest Cats. PKD can be diagnosed only by ultrasound scan.
HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) - note: currently there is NO approved DNA test for HCM in Norwegian Forest Cats. HCM can be diagnosed only by regular ultrasound heart screening (echocardiography).
CIN (Chronic Interstitial Nephritis) - note: testing for CIN may be done via an ultrasound scan of the kidneys. Because this disease can appear at any age, it is recommended that multiple ultrasounds be done to screen for CIN.
Our cats are tested and the results (GSD-IV, PK Def., HCM, PKD, CIN) are published in international databases:
